Yarrow is a perennial herb native to the Northern Hemisphere. Traditionally, it has been used as a remedy to ease the symptoms of colds and flu. The hot tea is known to stimulate sweating, therefore lowering fever. Yarrow was also good for stopping bleeding and healing cuts. It is believed that the Greek hero Achilles used yarrow as a lotion to help cure his wounded soldiers, hence the Latin name “Achillea”. Yarrow has been used to ease digestive problems, such as spasms, indigestion, and irritable bowel syndrome. It has also been used to stimulate appetite, as well as to stimulate blood circulation.
